Despite efforts to better integrate new immigrants into Canada’s labour market and to close the gap between the incomes of newcomers and their Canadian-born peers, skilled immigrants continue to experience higher levels of unemployment.
On Tuesday, December 2, join us for the release
of Brokering Success, a Mowat Centre report on improving skilled immigrant employment outcomes through strengthened government-employer engagement. It identifies four key levers available to governments to improve engagement and outcomes. It makes practical recommendations to governments and employers with a focus on:
- Adapting to local needs;
- Supporting smaller enterprises;
- Building a common language around evidence, skills, and objectives; and
- Promoting long-term stability of programs, services, and building sustained initiatives.
