Challenge
International contract manufacturing is considered a business best practice and many services are being outsourced, such as:
- Information technology;
- Call centres;
- Marketing services;
- Accounting services; and
- A growing number of business services delivered by virtual workforces.
Yet, according to the 2004 report from the Public Policy Forum, Bringing Employers into the Immigration Debate, half of Canada's employers say they don't bother to check out resumes from immigrant job candidates with overseas education or foreign work experience.
Opportunity
Employers can put themselves in a position of competitive advantage when they recognize the value of international experience, and when they understand that a skilled immigrant's strong track record of performance in another country will likely be repeated in Canada.
