IEC-BC congratulates the Surrey Board of Trade and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for recognizing the important leadership role that business organizations play in helping employers tap into skilled immigrants to address the skills gap. The Surrey Board of Trade was awarded the top award at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Convention for the immigrant employment program, ‘HR Solutions for Immigrant Talent that IEC-BC supports through the Employer Innovation Fund. Funded by the Government of Canada and the BC government, this project, along with the other ten Employer Innovation Fund projects underway across BC, builds the capacity of business and industry organizations to support their employer members to find and retain immigrant talent.
The HR Solutions for Immigrant Talent initiative is an employer focused program developed in partnership with Douglas College to assist small and medium sized businesses in the Surrey region in integrating immigrants into their labour pool. The project involves workshops, resources navigation, training and immigrant HR support for employers (with a one-on-one hands on approach by a roving HR specialist).
