Program will provide mentoring support to skilled immigrants looking for work within the financial sector.
The Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO) is pleased to announce funding from RBC to provide targeted career mentoring support to internationally trained professionals seeking employment within the financial sector.
Thanks to the gift from RBC Foundation, newcomer participants will have the opportunity to engage in speed mentoring, information meetings and workshops to help them successfully secure employment within the financial services sector. RBC volunteers will join other financial services mentors, currently volunteering within OCISO’s Career Mentorship Program, to mentor and deliver workshops to participants in the project.
Leslie Emory, Executive Director at OCISO noted that “the profession-specific insight these finance sector mentors offer will greatly enhance mentees’ ability to target and secure a position most commensurate to their education and experience.”
The bank’s generosity reflects their longstanding commitment to talent management which includes RBC’s strong focus on diversity in the workforce and the advancement of New Canadians. They continue to establish innovative workplace programs that enable people to develop their skills and talents, build their confidence and take on leadership roles in the organization. As of 2012, thirty per cent of middle management and above at RBC are visible minorities which truly underscores their culture of development and inclusion.
