Understanding Cultural Competence

This course focuses on raising awareness about cultural differences and how they influence personal beliefs and interpersonal interactions to develop cultural competency.

In today’s increasingly diverse workplace, understanding how culture shapes behaviours, preferences and expectations is an indispensable tool.

This understanding helps organizations build and promote equitable, positive working relationships to improve productivity, creativity performance and employee engagement at each stage of the employee life cycle.

Learning outcomes:

  • Increase awareness of cultural differences on a personal level
  • Describe some of the cultural influences that shape personal values and beliefs
  • Recognize the cultural beliefs and attitudes that influence interpersonal interactions
  • Articulate the process of becoming aware of cultural differences and of developing skills to achieve cultural competency.
