When new immigrant hires face workplace dilemmas, it can sometimes be attributed to cultural differences. But making this link can be complex and problematic. A good way for employers to turn these cultural differences into a positive is by:
- Learning how to overcome unconscious bias that may influence their own actions and decisions;
- Recognizing every employee brings unique talents, experiences and perspectives which can drive competitiveness and innovation; and
- Creating an “open” environment where staff are free to ask questions and learn about differences.
