Integration is a two-way street. While a skilled immigrant employee has a new organizational culture to learn about and contribute to, an organization can help foster that integration by promoting an inclusive and respectful work environment.
You can help this process further by:
- Setting clear expectations – from job responsibilities, duties and deliverables to performance monitoring and talent development;
- Incorporating information on work culture, and supports on communication skills for new immigrant hires; and
- Providing training for supervisors to ensure they know how to manage skilled immigrants.
