For organizations that have a high profile in the immigrant community, attracting applicants isn’t an issue. What can be more difficult is ensuring these candidates are a good match for the available jobs, says Cheryl Goldsmith, Human Resources Advisor at The City of Calgary.
To address that challenge, The City of Calgary is:
- Educating immigrant employment agencies about the City’s labour needs and recruitment process so they can put forward more appropriate candidates.
- Posting links to international qualifications assessment and education guides on the City’s careers site so candidates and hiring managers can quickly check international credentials.
