Employment in the public sector is highly valued among job seekers, including newcomers
to Canada. Still, we find that immigrants are about half as less likely than their Canadian-born peers to work in government.
Here are three tips to help governments tap into this highly skilled talent pool:
- Learn from employer practices in other governments, as well as other sectors;
- Back up intentions with policies or legislation; and
- Set targets, measure and report on progress.
